The words a club uses every day, defined plainly.

- Booking commissionA fee taken by a booking platform as a percentage of each booking’s value or a fixed amount per booking, on top of any card-processing cost.Read the definition
- Box leagueA league format where players are grouped into small boxes of 4 to 6, play everyone in their box over a set period, then move up or down a box.Read the definition

- Cancellation windowThe period before a booking starts during which a player can cancel and get a refund, set by the club as a number of hours before the start time.Read the definition
- Court blockA period when a court is taken off sale by the club for maintenance, a private event, coaching, or a league night, without a paying booking behind it.Read the definition
- Custom domainThe club’s own web address pointed at its booking site, so players book at the club’s domain instead of a page on the vendor’s.Read the definition

- LadderA standing ranking of players at a club where anyone can challenge someone a few places above them, and the winner takes the higher position.Read the definition
- Late cancellationA cancellation made after the cutoff in the club’s policy, too close to the start time for the slot to be resold, and usually charged in part or full.Read the definition

- OccupancyThe share of available court hours or class spots that were actually booked over a period, the main measure of how well a club’s schedule is used.Read the definition
- Open playA scheduled session where individual players book a spot and are grouped onto courts on the day, usually by skill band, instead of booking a whole court.Read the definition

- PayoutThe transfer of money collected from card payments out of the club’s Stripe balance into its bank account, on a daily, weekly, or monthly schedule.Read the definition
- Peak pricingCharging more for court time at the hours most players want, typically weekday evenings and weekend mornings, and less when demand is low.Read the definition

- ReconciliationChecking that the money that reached the bank matches the bookings, memberships, and refunds recorded in the booking system for the same period.Read the definition
- Recurring bookingA booking that repeats on a fixed pattern, such as the same court every Tuesday at 19:00, created once and managed as a series.Read the definition

- Skill bandA named range of skill ratings, such as 3.0 to 3.5, used to decide who can book a session, join a league division, or be grouped together.Read the definition
- Skill ratingA number that estimates how strong a player is, updated from match results, so clubs can group players into fair games and leagues.Read the definition
- Split paymentDividing the cost of one booking between the players in it, so each person pays their own share rather than one organiser paying for everyone.Read the definition
- Stripe ConnectStripe’s system for platforms whose customers take payments, giving each club its own Stripe account so money goes to the club, not the software vendor.Read the definition

- WaitlistA queue of players who want a slot, session, or class that is full, notified in order when a place opens up through a cancellation.Read the definition
- White labelSoftware the club runs under its own name and brand, so players see the club’s logo, colours, and domain rather than the vendor’s.Read the definition
